Everyone here at Half Pint Jones really appreciates our new friends here on Facebook. Many of you were suggested to us by your friends, many sent us requests, but there were so many recently that we just don’t have the time to send individual thank you’s. So to all of you, thank you! For those of you who don’t know us, we are an original band based in South Bend Indiana. Our members are from all over though, Chicago, Indiana, Michigan and New Orleans and we’ve all come together, using our unique individual backgrounds, to create this music. To our new friends, please take a listen. We hope you enjoy the music, we would love to see you at a show sometime.
We have music and CDs on www.halfpintjones.com, here on facebook, on itunes, and CD baby. HPJ is also getting very close to releasing a 5 song EP.
Thanks again,

Dear friends,
There’s a seriously unfortunate scenario unfolding for a few of New Orleans’ prized musicians. George Porter, Jr., Russell Batiste, and Brian Stoltz, are facing a massive lawsuit that they are having difficulty in affording. One of the most heartbreaking aspects is the potential for George to lose all of his Royalties & Publishing Rights, along with his home and personal assets.
Just a mild amount of research will give you an idea, should you not be aware already, of the massive influence George Porter, Jr. has had on the music scene, and history, of New Orleans. Not to mention, the world of music as a whole. His influence dates back to the early sixties, when The Meters began their molding of what is now the quintessential style of R&B and Funk music. Some of the very recordings he stands to lose are some of the most widely sampled in Hip-Hop (outside of James Brown), and the backbone, and foundation, of what we now consider Funk music. His body of work is vast, and should rightfully stay in his hands.
His influence on our band can’t be measured. As you know our Saxophone player is from New Orleans, and this music is a thread that weaves through his soul. He was weened on the sounds of New Orleans, and our band pays homage to this history by establishing our own representation of the New Orleans sound and culture. I, as well, also have family history rooted in New Orleans, and have always considered George Porter, Jr. to be one of my biggest influences, and hope to help in any way that I can. You can help, too, by following the provided link and acquainting yourself with the information it provides. Let’s try and help a music legend keep what is rightfully his.

Thank you to Bell’s Brewery for having us play the first “official” show in your brand new room. It’s an incredible addition to a great venue. If anyone has the chance to play, or see, a show in this room, DO IT! You won’t be disappointed. We had a great time and look forward to melting faces there in the future. Thanks to Larry (The Big Cheese) for sitting in with us. Who knew that aside from making killer brews, he could lay down the grooves on the skins? Nice job! The beer, as always, was incredibly good and the people, and general vibe, at Bell’s is nothing short of completely warm and welcoming.
Laissez les bon temps rouler to all!
Cheers
